If you are looking at engaging the kids fruitfully this summer without putting in too much efforts or planning then you will like this collection. All of them are no-fire cooking and made from ingredients that are easily available in your kitchen.
Not only will your kid love being off TV, he will also feel good about being in-charge of making his “drink for the day”.
MONDAY: Watermelon Smoothie
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups of small seedless watermelon chunks, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt, 3 tbsp maple syrup, few mint leaves
METHOD:
Place the seedless watermelon chunks in an airtight container and deep freeze for 1 hour. It’s important to use an airtight container to preserve its freshness. Take it out from the fridge and add all the ingredients into a blender. Blend together until the mixture is smooth. Serve chilled with a wedge of watermelon on the top.
Fun thing to do:
Let you child pour water and a generous amount of handwash in the blender and run the blender for a couple of seconds. This will not only clean the jar but also provide extra entertainment in the form of a jar full of bubbles.

I large raw mango, a pinch of cardamom and pepper each, ½ tsp cumin powder, 2 tsp black salt, organic jaggery – double the amount of mango pulp
METHOD:
Put the uncut mango in a pressure cooker yourself with little water and allow 4-5 whistles. Once the mango cools down, let your child scoop out the mango pulp with the help of a spoon. Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend together until the mixture is smooth. Add 1 tbsp of this preserve to one glass of water, add ice-cubes if needed. Store the rest of the preserve in an airtight container in the fridge.
Fun thing to do:
Let the mango seed dry in the hot sun and use it as a base for your next painting or craft

Fun thing to do:
This is gonna be the summer of popsicles, a new homemade popsicle to flaunt every week to his set of friends when they drop in for the playdate! So stock yourself on all the flavors that your child loves. You can buy small Tetrapaks so that you have a new flavor to experiment with every week. They have long shelf and ofcouse it’s totally hygienic unlike the ones sold out of a cart.
THRUSDAY : Pudina Sherbet
INGREDIENTS:
I cup pudina leaves, ½ cup organic jaggery, a pinch of pepper, ½ tsp cumin powder, 2 tsp black salt,
METHOD:
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend together until the mixture is smooth. Add 2 tbsp of this preserve to one glass of water, add ice-cubes if needed. Store the rest of the preserve in an airtight container in the fridge.
Fun thing to do:
Buy a few small pots or use any wide mouth empty plastic jars that you have at home. Get your child to fill them with soil. Plant a few bunches of pudina which have their roots still intact. You can also soak some methi for 2-3 hours and sprinkle in the soil. It’s real easy and fun for children to see the seed spurt into a sapling and then plant. You have the whole summer ahead, get him to learn something good. Let him grow his own vegetable patch this summer.
FRIDAY:
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup milk, ½ scoop Vanilla ice-cream, chocolate syrup to your taste, 4 chocolate biscuit
METHOD:
Pour the milk, ice-cream, chocolate syrup into the blender and blend together until the mixture is frothy. Beat 2 crushed chocolate biscuits into the blended milkshake for a minute. Add the remaining crushed chocolate biscuits as topping and pour some chocolate sauce as a final extra topping.
Fun thing to do:
It’s Friday! What more can I say. Indulge yourself too, but remember to make one for yourself with either skimmed milk or better even almond milk. Don’t stare at me, all you have to is to remember to pick some packets for yourself while picking the juices for the kids and then pour it into the blender directly from the pack. It’s mango season, be merciful to yourself. The least you can do is give up the fat in the milk!
HAPPY WEEKEND
Don’t forget to take a print of this and stick on your fridge or kitchen wall.
