5 Best Winter Treks in the Himalayas

5 Best Winter Treks in Himalayas

The Himalayas are known for their beauty and scenic views, but they also have a history. The region has been inhabited for thousands of years by people from many different cultures. One such culture is the Tibetan Sherpa people who have lived in the mountains for centuries.

As winter descends on this region each year it becomes more difficult to reach some high-altitude areas due to deep snowfall or even avalanches which can injure climbers or even kill them completely if they aren’t prepared properly before going up there. However with some basic knowledge about how to prepare yourself for winter treks like these five below listed ones listed here then your chances of surviving are much higher than being unprepared.

1. Pangarchulla Peak Trek

Pangarchulla Peak Trek is a trek that takes place in the Garhwal Himalayas, in the Pauri district of Uttarakhand. The peak range is located at an elevation of 3,000 m and covers an area of around 5 square kilometers.

The trailhead for this hike starts from Mukteshwari Temple, which is located near Jhinjhak village on Route Nanda Devi-Kichha Road (NH-28). This temple was constructed by Bhagwan Swaminarayan himself in 1866 when he visited this place as well as other parts nearby such as Bhuvaneshwar Temple and Ramnagar Fort during his visit here.

2. Kuari Pass Trek

The Kuari Pass is a high mountain pass in the Himalayas. It’s located in the Uttarakhand state of Indi,a but it also extends into Kumaon and Garhwal regions.

The pass itself is two passes: one leading up to Manali (which is about 15 km away) and another that leads down towards Rishikesh (about 50 km away). Both routes are only accessible by foot or on horseback during winters when snowfall has been heavy enough to cover tracks that were once visible from afar!

As you might expect from such a remote location, this trekking trail isn’t exactly easy going—but it’s worth it if you want to experience some truly spectacular views without having to worry about crowds or traffic jams!

3. Chopta Chandrashila Trek

Chopta Chandrashila Trek is one of the most popular treks in the Himalayas. It’s a moderate trekking route, which means you’ll need to be in the good physical condition and comfortable with heights. The hiking season for this trek is October to May but you can also do it in winter if you’re lucky enough to find snow on the ground.

The trailhead starts at Chopta village at an elevation of 2,500 meters above sea level (a little more than 9,000 feet). From there, it takes about 6-7 hours to reach Chandrashila pass (4,200 meters), where you’ll have views of Mount Kailas and Lake Manasarovar. The final stretch leads down towards Madhyagandha Valley before ending back up again at Kalimati Lodge behind Taklung La pass at 4,700 meters above sea level (13,500 feet).

4. Deoriatal-Chandrashila Trek

The Deoriatal-Chandrashila Trek is a beautiful Himalayan trek that takes you through some of the most scenic regions of Nepal. It begins at Deoriatal, near Pokhara, and ends at Chandrashila, which is located on top of Kanchenjunga Base Camp (KBC).

This trek offers amazing views and scenery throughout its duration. It passes through various villages with stunning views of glacial lakes and mountains as well as green meadows, forests, and snow-covered peaks.

The route has an elevation gain of around 2200 m/7700 ft along with an 1120 m/3500 ft descent from Kyanchu Chuli to Manaslu Base Camp (MBC). The total distance covered by this trekking route is about 25 km/15 miles or 40 km/25 miles depending on your preference for shorter or longer treks respectively if you decide not to do both legs together at once but separately instead

5. Kuari Pass Winter Trek

The Kuaripass Winter Trek is a 5-6 day trek, which starts from the village of Pindari and ends at the Deoriatal Pass. This route offers great views of the Himalayan peaks, including Everest Base Camp (8,848m).

The trekking time will be around 5 days but you can go for 7 days if you wish. The best time to visit this area is November – March because it’s much cooler during these months than at other times of the year. You’ll also have fewer tourists visiting due to less snowfall on their way back after spending Christmas or New Year’s with family members in Kathmandu Valley or Pokhara Valley etc.

Conclusion

It can be hard to say goodbye to the comforts of home when you are planning a winter trek. But if you want to get out and explore the world, then these are some great options for you!
